If you feel like us, you are still recovering from the grueling, 38-week FPL season. But was it really as hard as it seemed? We think there is a quantifiable way to show that the answer is yes.
Below is a list of the top scorers at each position, enough to fill out a full FPL squad. Each player has his starting price (pre-Gameweek 1) listed as well.
- Goalkeepers: David de Gea (MUN) - 5.5, Ederson (MCI) - 5.5
- Defenders: Cesar Azpilicueta (CHE) - 6.5, Marcos Alonso (CHE) - 7.0, Nicolas Otamendi (MCI) - 5.5, Antonio Valencia (MUN) - 6.5, Ben Davies (TOT) - 5.5
- Midfielders: Mohamed Salah (LIV) - 9.5, Raheem Sterling (MCI) - 8.0, Kevin de Bruyne (MCI) - 10.0, Christian Eriksen (TOT) - 9.5, Riyad Mahrez (LEI) - 8.5
- Forwards: Harry Kane (TOT) - 12.5, Jamie Vardy (LEI) - 8.5, Roberto Firmino (LIV) - 8.5
If you add up the starting prices of all the highest scorers, it adds up to 116.5 pounds. As you know (because you are reading this), you start the season with 100 pounds.
Those extra 16.5 pounds represent the struggle of FPL owners throughout the season. They represent the decisions you had to make to figure out where to save your money, where to find good form among available players, who was going to sub in or out, and how to avoid injuries.
If it felt hard, you now know why. It was hard. And we can't wait until next year.
