If you are an FPL owner paying attention so far this season, you likely have a combination of Chelsea and Liverpool players in your lineup. Hazard, Alonso, maybe Pedro. Robertson, Mane, maybe Firmino and Salah.
With those two clubs playing each other this week, that could be very good. Or very bad. After all, those players you own play at literally every position in FPL.
You have a handful of options to consider as you finalize your lineup before Saturday. The rest of this post will describe them.
The Long Game: You essentially do nothing. You know you want to keep these guys for literally every other fixture of the season besides this one. Just ride out the possible bad week this week and go from there. After all, you can’t avoid every fixture, right?
The Panic Move: Take as many -4’s as you can to avoid the fixture altogether. This is obviously at the opposite end of the spectrum from the first option. This move will likely require later -4’s in order to get these players back in.
The Scoreline Guess: Are you convinced that Chelsea will shut out Liverpool at home? Think Liverpool’s 100% record is safe? Expecting 4-4 in the end? Then maybe you will plan out your lineup accordingly. This would explain if you decide to bench all of your Chelsea players, all of your Liverpool players, or all of your Chelsea and Liverpool defenders.
The Bench Swap: This means that you plan to keep most, if not all, of your Chelsea and Liverpool players but to put as many on your bench as you possibly can. This will make your lineup look funny.
One of these options defines your lineup this weekend. It’s just another reason why this Chelsea-Liverpool match at 17:30 tomorrow is going to be so interesting.
